Why would I need homebuyer education?

Buying a home is a very difficult process that involves a lot of different people-the realtor, the mortgage company, the title company, the appraiser, the home inspector... It is an exasperating and lengthy process for those who have done it before, but can be downright frightening for those who are buying a home for the first time.

We consider you a first time buyer if you haven't owned a home for at least three years.

What does the Homebuyer Workshop cost?

No cost. The Homebuyer Workshops are sponsored by Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA).

How do I sign up?

Seating is limited. Pre-registration is necessary. Call NHSNB at 860-224-2433 to register.

Do I qualify for your loan program?

One of our Housing Counselors can answer that question for you, but we ask that you take homebuyer education class first so you will understand the basics of how loans work.

What if my credit is not great?

One of the Housing Counselors will review your credit report with you and let you know steps you need to take to clean up your credit rating.
