Homebuyer Education

Our Homebuyer Class is designed for people who have thoughts of purchasing a home or expect to buy in the future. A comprehensive approach to homeownership that offers training in all aspects of the home purchase and closing process includes bilingual group sessions, individual counseling, credit review, down-payment assistance, and mortgage referrals. NHSNB partners with area lenders to offer its graduates the most attractive, below market 1st mortgage product available.

NHSNB’s free Homebuyer Education classes are sponsored by Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA).  NHSNB provides all the counseling services and training customers need to purchase, rehabilitate, insure, and maintain a home.

This Homebuyer Class satisfies the homebuyer education requirement for CHFA programs, the City’s HOP loans and other first time buyer mortgage products.

8-Hour Class -
Held Every Month – For those interested in purchasing

• Shopping for a Home
• Shopping for a Loan
• Home Maintenance and Repairs

3-Hour Class – Must have a sales contract and
a CHFA loan pending.

Will receive certificate upon completion

• Responsibilities of Homeownership/Credit and Budgeting
• Protecting your investment/Maintenance and Safety
