Daria Keyes
Director of

Ed Loggins
Director of Finance

Ed  brings over 25 years of financial management experience to NHSNB. He has worked with NeighborWorks America in Rhode Island and Idaho.  He served as CFO for The Idaho Foodbank, and played a central role in managing finances for The Salvation Army. Ed earned his BS in Business Administration from the California State University at San Bernardino.

Meet The Team

Chris Sanders
Executive Director

Chris brings over 10 years experience in affordable housing in Connecticut.  He founded and is President of the Goshen Housing Trust, Inc., an all volunteer 501c3 developing affordable housing in Litchfield County.   He serves as the Vice Chair of the Northwest Hills Council of Governments Housing Council and serves on the Board of the Connecticut Federation of Lakes, an environmental stewardship non-profit.  His community service has included 11 years on the Region 6 Board of Education, former President of the Board of EdAdvance, and 12 years on the Zoning Board of Appeals.  Chris has also had a successful career starting and running  a number of software technology firms in senior executive positions.  He earned his B.S. in Math and Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA with concentration in Marketing from Rutgers University.  He has also attended the Harvard Business School program in Strategic Market Management and the UC Berkeley Hass Business School program in Services Marketing.

Daria Keyes

Daria brings over twenty years of grant writing and community building to NHSNB. She has worked with Human Resources Agency of New Britain, Planned Parenthood, community Mental Health Affiliates, Opportunity Knocks at Middlesex Hospital, The Village for Families & Children and is the prior Executive Director of ERASE in East Hartford. Daria is a life long learning, earning certificates this year in Essential Tools of Successful Neighborhood Revitalization; Strategies to Meaningfully Engage Stakeholders in Revitalization Planning; and Managing Volunteers to Develop Leaders and Build Community. Most importantly, she is applying her learning from Duquesne University Trauma Informed Community Development Framework  to communities in New Britain. Daria earned her BA in Psychology from Connecticut College, and graduated summa cum laude with a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Connecticut.

Idalis ("Dolly") Moreno
Supervisor of Homeownership Counseling & Foreclosure Programs

Dolly is Supervisor of NHSNB's Homeownership, Counseling and Foreclosure services.  She is certified by NeighborWorks America to provide Homeownership counseling and education; she helps clients with money management, credit and housing related issues. She is also a certified foreclosure intervention and default counselor. Dolly is fluent in Spanish and English.

Rosa Rivera

Homeownership & Foreclosure Prevention Counselor

Rosa is the longest-serving member of the staff, and a resident of New Britain with a deep knowledge of the community. She is skilled at solving tough mortgage problems for people facing possible foreclosure. She enjoys helping first-time homebuyers.

Maria Rosiello

Class Educator and Outreach Coordinator 

Maria teaches our home purchase, financial literacy and landlord classes. Call to discuss a workshop at your site.

Elaine Strickland

Executive Assistant and
Property Manager

Elaine has worked in human service settings for many years. Office management and rental property management are her focus.

Lucretia Jones

Housing Program Assistant &
Class Registrar

Lucretia welcomes everyone at our front desk, answers the telephone and enrolls people in our classes. She has many years of experience in education and human services.

Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain, Inc. is a private, 501(c)3 designated, non-stock corporation that is run by an independent Board of Directors who live or work in the surrounding community.

Beth W. Ghiloni-Wage, President

Beth is Associate Professor of Marketing at Central Connecticut State University. Prior to rejoining the academy, she had 25 years of corporate experience in global new market/ product development as well as partnership development with companies like eBay, Google, Amazon, Hallmark, Fujifilm and Zazzle. Her academic publications focus on women in business, SMS marketing, as well as non-profit fundraising and marketing. Beth graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude with BA in Sociology and French (minor) from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  She earned her MA and Ph.D. at the University of California in Santa Cruz.  

 

Dave Bremer, Treasurer

Dave is SVP, Market Commercial Credit Manager for CT, RI and Southeastern MA at TD Bank.  Dave has more than 20 years of experience in commercial lending/credit and corporate finance in roles of increasing responsibility.  He has significant experience on both sides of the lending transaction/relationship – as a commercial banker and as a member of a borrower's senior management team.  Dave earned a bachelor's degree in Operations Management and Finance from Syracuse University and an MBA from Boston College.

 

Gary Robinson, Secretary

Gary is the General Manager of Trinity on Main, a not-for-profit cultural center dedicated to the advancement of the arts, foster cultural diversity, encourage community revitalization and contribute to the economic redevelopment of downtown New Britain. Gary, now retired, is the founder (and former General Manager) of Ekris Cable Company. He is the former president of the New Britain Chamber of Commerce; President of Vision New Britain (umbrella organization to support small not-for-profit organization); and  TRIAD (an organization that supports seniors along with the NB Police Department). Additionally, Gary serves on the New Britain Institute Board of Managers, which oversees  NB Library, Youth Museum and the Industrial Museum; Chairman of the New Britain Building Commission; and Secretary of the New Britain Sister City organization. He earned his BS in Industrial Administration at the University of New Haven and his Master in Public Health (Hospital Administration) at the Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Talat Salama 

Talat is Professor of Construction Management at Central Connecticut State University. He has 17 years of faculty experience in the fields of Construction Management and Structural Engineering, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2017, he was awarded the Educator of the Year by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Connecticut Industry Recognition Awards. His research areas include instrumentation and testing of bridges, sustainable concrete mix design, and rehabilitation of deteriorating structures.
Dr. Salama is a Professional Engineer in the states of New Jersey and Alabama.

Manny Sandoval

 

Manny Sandoval works for Compass Youth Collaborative, a nonprofit agency working with at risk youth who are disenfranchised and disconnected from the community.  He acts as a youth development advisor, meeting with youth wherever they may be.  He holds a Bachelor's degree from Springfield College where he graduated Cum Luade.  He also holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT.

Scott Selmecki
 

​Scott Selmecki is Logistics Manager at The Home Depot. He has more than 25 years of experience in logistics and sales, including 10 years with the United States Army stationed in Panama.  After 14 years as a retail store manager, Scott is currently working in Supply Chain at the Rapid Deployment Center in Westfield MA.  As a Team Depot Captain through the Home Depot Foundation,  and working with Veterans Inc in Worcester, Scott completed housing projects in all 6 New England states, building and updating 100+ housing units for homeless men, women and children.  Scott earned Bachelor Degrees from Boston College in Political Science and Environmental Geoscience and an M.Ed. in Instructional Psychology from the University of Oklahoma.  

M. Kate Van Valkenburg

Kate is SVP, Senior Commercial Relationship Manager at NBT Bank. She has more than 20 years of commercial banking experience including credit underwriting and lending. She has been a Commercial Real Estate Lender for the past 13 years, financing investment real estate including construction and stabilized assets; market sectors financed include office, apartments, retail, industrial, and residential home building programs. Kate earned her BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Massachusetts. She also serves on the Gifts of Love Board of Directors.
