Celebrating the Completion of Our Community Mural at NHS-Gallery 66
As part of NeighborWorks Week 2026, we were thrilled to celebrate the completion and unveiling of our Community Mural at NHS-Gallery 66.
On June 4th, we welcomed city officials, artists, community members, and supporters to recognize this exciting milestone. The mural honors the history of the building, highlights the many facets of New Britain, and reflects the city's continued growth and evolution.
Guests had the opportunity to hear directly from the artists about their inspiration and creative process. We extend our sincere gratitude to Chris Gann, Eddie Hall, Sarah Grote, Clinton Deckert, Kendall Solwoda, James D'Amore, and curator Adrian Elliott for bringing this vision to life through their talent and creativity.
The event also celebrated the partnerships that help strengthen our community. We thank Bevida & Company, an NHS-Gallery 66 resident partner, for providing refreshments, and Bigalow Catering for providing the meal. Their contributions helped make the evening a memorable celebration.
Throughout the event, we highlighted how our Four E's—Engage, Educate, Elevate, and Empower—guide our work across affordable housing development and management, educational services, and our Creative Community Development efforts.
What makes this mural especially unique is its design as a rotating outdoor gallery. Three-dimensional artwork is incorporated directly into the mural and can be periodically exchanged, creating ongoing opportunities for artists to contribute and ensuring the installation continues to evolve alongside New Britain's creative community.
At NHS, we believe that art has the power to elevate communities. Public art beautifies shared spaces, celebrates local identity, fosters connection, and creates opportunities for residents to engage with one another in meaningful ways. This mural stands as a testament to the role creativity can play in strengthening neighborhoods and building a sense of belonging. We are deeply grateful to the City of New Britain Commission on Art, the City of New Britain Public Works and NeighborWorks America for their support in making this project possible.
