NHSNB is recognized for its support of the UniteCT Program
Connecticut Housing commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno praised NHSNB for the superb work that NHSNB is doing in helping people through the UniteCT application process.
The remarks were made during the Commissioner's visit on Thursday, April 22nd, to NHSNB's UniteCT Resource Center at 223 Broad Street in New Britain, Connecticut.
Commissioner Mosquera-Bruno spoke with several community partners and NHSNB staff at the gathering of 30 people. UniteCT is the state's rental/utility assistance for those impacted financially by COVID. NHSNB provides support by assisting people with questions and application issues.
Between March 15th and April 22nd , NHSNB staff have assisted 335 people with their UniteCT applications. Of those, 250 were tenants and 85 were landlords. Help is provided in person and via phone or email. For help applying for UniteCT funds, call 860-224-2433, xtn. 121 or 109.
NHSNB Opens Resource Center to Support Rental /Utility Assistance Applicants
Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain has started a free Resource Center to help people apply for rental or utility assistance through Unite CT, Connecticut's COVID rental/utility relief program.
NHSNB is located in the heart of Little Poland at 223 Broad Street in New Britain.
" Our new Resource Center will make the application process smooth and easy. It's about both the human touch and access to technology. For people without computers or internet access, the Resource Center will provide this access," said Chris Sanders, NHSNB Executive Director. " In addition, " NHSNB trained staff are available to respond to customers and answer questions."

The UniteCT Program will provide rental and utility payment assistance to qualified Connecticut households financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal is to help stabilize Connecticut's rental housing market.
NHSNB is the only agency in Greater New Britain providing UniteCT support services and 1 of 13 agencies in the state. The Connecticut Department of Housing oversees the program.
To be eligible for this program, a person must:
* Have qualified for unemployment or have experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID -19.
* Demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
* Have a household income at or below 80% of HUD AMI (Area Median Income).
